What is salvation, and how do we get it?

Salvation is an offer of adoption by God that you accept by trusting the Jesus who rose from the dead. It’s a gift, so you can’t earn it or work to keep it; you can only live in humble gratitude for it.

Jesus is the only way to be reconciled and adopted by God as our Father. This is the Good News! Jesus Christ died for our sins according to Bible prophecy (the word of God), then he was buried, and then he was raised on the third day according to prophecy.

The Gift

What happens to us the moment we accept Jesus’ gift?

  1. declared righteous Romans 3:28, 4:5, 24, 5:1, 9, Gal. 3:24, Phil. 3:9
  2. become children of God Romans 8:14-17, Galatians 3:7, 26
  3. clothed with Christ Galatians 3:27
  4. belong to Christ, not ourselves 1 Cor. 6:19-20
  5. heirs according to the promise Galatians 3:29-4:7
  6. the flesh was crucified Galatians 5:24
  7. redemption through Jesus' blood, forgiveness of our sins Eph. 1:7
  8. became God's own possession Eph. 1:11
  9. sealed with the Holy Spirit who guarantees our inheritance 2 Cor. 1:22, Eph. 1:13-14
  10. made alive with Christ Eph. 2:5
  11. raised up and seated with Christ in heaven Eph. 2:6
  12. brought near to God, have peace with God Romans 5:1, Eph. 2:13
  13. citizens of God's household Eph. 2:19
  14. sealed for the day of redemption Eph. 4:30
  15. buried and raised with Christ Romans 6:4-6, Col. 2:12
  16. made alive and forgiven Col. 2:13

What should I do?

When we accept this Good News and receive all these things, we should live to please our Savior, not out of fear or obligation but love and gratitude.

If you can, find others who have been saved before you, so they can guide you in your new life as a child of God. Read the Bible and pray for guidance from God’s Holy Spirit. Pray often, and tell others how they too can be reconciled to God.
